Renewables’ funding still available for local communities

Renewables’ funding still available for local communities
Local communities could have up to 90% of their renewable energy installation costs refunded under the Agricultural Area Development Program (PROW) 2007-2013, vice president of the Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture Jarosław Wójtowicz said.

Earlier this year, minister of agriculture Marek Sawicki said that a total of €17 million will be committed to the PROW and each applying community will be eligible for funding of up to €500,000.

Mr. Wójtowicz expects that most applications will concern photovoltaic installation, because they are quick to install.

“I expect [local communities] to install PV panels on different buildings they own: schools, police stations, water purification plants, as well as building rooftops,” he said.

According to Poland’s ministry of agriculture, there will be about 1 million of local renewables energy installation in Poland by 2020, roughly the number of such installations in Germany today.
